This year has been an incredible for us here at OHD – We’ve grown immensely and I can’t thank anyone else but all of you for coming to our blog and following us. We love you and are so appreciative for all thats happened this year. We’ve put on countless successful shows and are on the fast track or a very prosperous and successful year in 2013! Anyway, here are my favorite songs from the last year – from dubstep to electro, to house and mashups. Kerry Wheeler, formally known as XOXO, has just released this banger titled We Are Your Cannonball. He flawlessly combined Justice’s We Are Your Friends with Showtek’s electro house hit, Cannonball. It’s much different than what we’re used to hearing from him as the majority of his work has been with original and remixes, but it’s nice to see his talent spill over into mashups. It’s been a while since I’ve heard a good mashup. Admittedly they hold a special place in my heart because they are usually extremely danceable, catchy. Personally, I think it takes a special quality and ability for an individual to combine songs that both work together, are catchy and memorable. If anyone around here remembers Mochi Beats, you know what I mean. Compson Sound is a 20 year-old producer and student, and deserves a lot of love for what he’s doing. For the haters, mashups will never go away so you better just grow to enjoy them once in a while, like I have.
