You know, I’m not the biggest fan of Rihanna to begin with but this bootleg done by Branchez blew me away. Staying true to the originality of the song with Rihanna‘s seductive vocals yet adding in his own hi-hat hits and and beats that make for an absolutely unforgettable mix. I know it will not disappoint. For a free download make sure to visit Branchez on Facebook!
The original of MØ’s “Pilgrim” was featured in our last Indie Mix (listen here) and really deserved its own post. I have now officially been forced into making one, albeit for the remix MS MR just put out. I’ve been listening to the original a lot recently and as soon as I heard MS MR got their hands on it I knew it was gonna be amazing. Their last EP, Candy Bar Creep Show, was one of the most unique styles of a pop record I’ve heard this past year, or any year for that matter. Dark-pop is the genre I’ve appropriated their sound and to be completely honest, I haven’t heard a lot of bands doing what they’re doing and doing it as well as they’re doing at the moment. So go scope their last EP if you haven’t already, and get down to their latest remix of “Pilgrim.” HOLLA HOLLA HOLLA HOLLA HOLLA
Hailing from Mt. Eden, New Zealand, 16 year oldLorde is one of the most exciting up and coming female pop artists of 2013. To me she just seems like she would be the sweetest and genuinely the cutest thing ever, and that’s simply from judging by her voice on her latest EP The Love Club. The entire album exudes happy, playful vibes and will leave you gleefully bobbing your head the whole way through. You can download The Love Club in its entirety via her Soundcloud.
Besides the significant degree of quality in all his production, the thing I like most about Ryan Hemworth is his musical taste. He takes songs that I already love, songs most people really wouldn’t think to remix, and complete re-works them into something special EVERY TIME he does it. His latest piece of excellence is a remix of Rhye’s “Open” – which really should’ve been included my Top Songs of 2012 list. Rhye’s sultry, Sade-esque vocals seduce me every time I listen to her, usually leaving me crying to myself because I don’t have a pretty woman to make love to every time this song comes on shuffle. No download available yet, but you can stream the video for it below.

I’ll be honest it took me a little while to warm up to this one, the original that is. However, once I finally did I really haven’t been able to stop listening to it for about the past week. “White Noise” is Disclosure’s latest jam featuring another rising English duo, AlunaGeorge. I’ve been impressed by Disclosure’s ability to create their own sound to the point where you can immediately tell if it’s a Disclosure track, which is something that’s getting harder and harder to do in this day and age with vast amount of music being produced and similarities between artists we have now. Hudson Mohawke just dropped his remix of the song, which I think is what lit the match that re-ignited my appreciation in it, which wasn’t necessarily there on first listen. Each of the artists featured here are high on my list of acts to watch out for this year. So take note – DISCLOSURE, ALUNAGEORGE, HUDSON MOHAWKE #LOOKOUT.
Okay, where all my Taylor Swift fans at? Bryce McMurray aka DJ Topsider just threw together this especially catchy assortment of tracks, two of which are from artists we just recently featured on the blog (CHVRCHES and Monsieur Adi) and the other of T-Swift’s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” If you’ve been paying attention to my recent posts, I’ve kinda been on a pop-binge lately – don’t really know where it’s coming from but I hope at least some of you have been enjoying it. Be sure to Follow/Like DJ Topsider‘s pages below and download this mash FO FREE.
Stay (CHVRCHES x Taylor Swift x Lana Del Rey & Monsieur Adi)
Ah yes, David Dann is back with another mind blowing remix. In this remix, David Dann reshaped the entirety of Angels; chopping up the vocals and giving it a fresh new energetic sound without sacrificing the emotional feel of the track. Grab your free download and enjoy.
I’ve been meaning to do another one of these for a while now and today I was really just in the mood and had enough time on my hands to put it together, so here you go. This is kind of just a mix of alternative/indie/some electronic originals and remixes I’ve been listening too a lot over the past couple of months. Songs most noteworthy are: one of Foals‘ latest songs, titled “My Number” off their recently released album Holy Fire(which I highly suggest you check out), Wild Party‘s catchy hit “When I Get Older,” which just puts me in a good mood every time I hear it, and a personal favorite from Unknown Mortal Orchestra and their song “So Good At Being In Trouble.” I also threw in some older tracks that have recently popped back up on my radar that deserved some renewed attention.
